52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Denim

Miyoko is very sad. In my past posts I was finally using SL shadows and I really loved them. BUT I'm one of the lucky person who had her gmail attacked and I had to install a complete fresh system. I'm now on Windows 7 and I tried several SL viewers (Emergence, Kirstens, and the most painful one ever Linden Lab V2) in none of them I managed to get shadows for my avatar. Not sure what else to try...

It's ironic that denim and jeans can be American symbols, it stays a French invention as the material was invented in France in the city of Nimes (de Nimes became denim) and the word jean comes from the French name of the Italian city Genoa (Genes) where the 1st jeans were made.

Sweater dresses were the thing of this autumn winter 2010-2011 season in RL fashion. And I wanted to blog one for ages as many stores made cool ones. But my pixel heart started to beat faster when I spotted this loose sweater on the feeds. It's normally a male sweater but with a few clicks and resizer scripts, I turned it in a sweater dress. Oh and did I mention it's a free gift?

Top and flops of 2010

Bye bye 2010! Time for a year end review. I made a list of my tops and flops for 2010 in SL. Of course these are just my point of views. You will like some and dislike others, it's normal, we are all differents and learning to live with the other differences make us more rich inside.

Flops of 2010

1 LL viewer 2 = hahaha what a bad joke

2 display names = hahaha, no seriously LL no better things to do?

3 morphing RL/SL pictures = it was and still is freaky, especially used for store vendors

4 "I'm leaving SL forever" and back 2 weeks later

5 the closing sales and sales in general, good news the grid is on sale!

6 Thievery, scams and grieffers = unfortunately still too much

7 The templates = nice to learn to create but when I saw 4 stores with the same great sculptie coat, I was wondering who stole who?

8 The hunts = I used to love hunts but now too many of them, too badly organized, not fun anymore

9 Plurk = I tried a few months to find out it's the best place for people who have time to lose and who can't speak to people face to face.

10 Philip "Linden" Rosedale = he left us again :(

Top of 2010

1 The alpha layers = all good third party viewers have them, you should try.

2 The creations of SL residents = the quality gets more and more amazing

3 The bloggosphere = I became a part of it this year and met a lot of great people from there. I think it's what keeps SL alive and turning.

4 The art of ALTing = many designers decided to restart from scratch and used alter egos to redo a new business, I found the result really good. It takes some guts to reinvent yourself (I'm msyelf the alt of another designer *winks*)

5 The trolls = yes I put them in the tops of 2010 because they really made me laugh a lot. Some were so unreal, they made me believe in Santa Claus again ^^

6 The new SL marketplace = surprisingly good

7 The third party viewers = they have really clever options

8 The groups = some very cool ones where people help each other

9 LL Intellectual Proprety Team = finally created to slowly but surely fight thievery, it's never too late.

10 My 2 friends who met in SL 4 years ago and are getting married in real next February. They invited their SL friends to the wedding so we'll be a bunch to meet for the 1st time in real!

Hydra 10.10.10

Today 10.10.10 my fresh blog had its 2000th visitor :) So thank you (yes YOU) for reading it or just clicking on it. Thank you also to the designers who believe in the magic.

I'll be serious for a change and speak about Jewelry Fair that goes till the 17th October. As you already know, several proceeds of the fair go to Oxfam International a confederation of organizations working together to help people in poverty improve their lives.

At the fair I got stuck on my screen when I saw the new Hydra collection from Rozoregalia... The necklace comes with 3 types and you'll find matching bracelets, earrings and piercings... OMG I want them IRL too!

How to accessorize rubber boots

A few days ago my best SL friend told me she bought rubber boots. I told her they can be sexy if they are well accessorized. So she said: "with a showel" and I added "or a cow". But then we thought that a cow is not always handy to go shopping as they are not allowed everywhere...
No instead of that, I'd go for the Kate and Pete look at Glastonbury 2005 festival. It was badly raining and Kate Moss arrived with her rubber boots, sexy shorts, a toy boy and suddenly rubber boots were back!

Closed eyes, opened mouth

Closed eyes, opened mouth is a funny happy accident when you don't photoshop. So with my black and white outit, I jumped to LPDT2. It's an excellent place if you use viewer2 and want to play with SL shadows as letters are falling from the sky and make nice shadows on you. You'll find several free avatars at landing point and there are several levels to experiment in the sim.

Today a friend explained me about lucky boards in "dirty mode" as she has one herself at her store.
